The Hills
After Struggling to get through an episode of The Hills I started to realize the just by watching this show I am lowering my I.Q.. This "fake" reality show is really setting a bad example for young women in this society. First and most importantly we have Heidi. who has given up her friendship with long time best friend Lauren to be with her manipulating, unappreciative, asshole of a boyfriend, Spencer. Heidi continues to be with Spencer even after he tells her sister they want her to move out because she erased his Tivo shows. What kind of self- respecting women would still be with a guy that treats your family and friends so horribly? All of the people on this show just drive me crazy. They pretend to have these high profile jobs in fashion but we never see them working without hearing about the latest gossip. I don't know how anyone can believe this show is real life.

I agree- I hate The Hills. My cousins watch that show all the time, and I'm just like "THIS SUCKS!"
I can pratically feel my IQ dropping if I have to watch the show.
The girls are so fake, too! Now one of them is singing, and another has a fashion line out (which I heard she needed a lot of help on). Honestly!
I agree that the show is completely and totally fake and staged. I do admit though that when nothing else is on t.v. I will watch it, but with the full awareness that it is fake and there is absolutely no reason to look up to anyone on the show as a role model. The show has alot of focus on beauty (fake beauty including breast implants, nose jobs and professionally done hair and makeup) and presents many if not all of the girls on the show as perfect looking. What does this do for the female viewers...? Probably nothing positive. It just gives them the idea that superficially and back stabbing is a normal and ok thing to do.
They are just a bunch of rich spoiled brats. The shows are so stupid. In every show they go out to eat and gossip about stupid people in stupid relationships. They all date eachother boyfriends and pass eachother around.I don't understand how they get any ratings. I hear that Heidi and her boyfriend are going to come out with their own show. This show does prove how people care so much about class status.
As a person who watches The Hills i feel i have something to add. While i do agree with you about Heidi and Spencer i disagee with you on the show. I understand its fake, but how is that any different then Gossip Girl? I enjoy the show and have followed Lauren from Laguna Beach. Its purely for entertainment.
I feel like I go with both sides on this subject because while I do agree that the show is ultimately pointless and dumb. As well as many of the people on it are dumb, superficial and fake. The show does focus too much on material things and artificial beauty, in my opinion. It is sending the message that if you have expensive things and a big house on beachfront property, you will be happy or you will be popular -- whatever the case may be.
But I also do agree with what Jacquelyn is saying. Heidi & Spencer are definitely the worst out of them all, but the show is made for entertainment, which is what it does provide for the most part.
And I will admit that I do watch it occassionally if nothing else is on television, but I am not obsessed with the show to the point where I cannot miss an episode. Which is how many girls I know are.
