Babies Having Babies
At my job in Columbia I have noticed a wierd trend among my female co-workers. All of five of the girls I work with are under 25 and either have a kid or one on the way. Now if a girl wants to have kids that young that is their own decision but I never understood the point in it. Most of these girls talk constantly about going out to bars and strip clubs while their babies are at home sleeping. If a girl wants to have kids when she is that young thats great but I think you should be more responsible and set a good example for them. Girls these days are getting pregnant younger and younger every day. The high school that i went to has 30 girls who are pregnant this year and most of them are not even seniors. Why is this? I heard that when the movie Juno came out young girls were finding it cool to be pregnant in highschool. I just have one question "what is the rush?" these girls a practilly still kids themselves. I know I want to get all of my partying out when I am young so that when I do decide to have kids I can focus all my attention on them. But thats just me.

I agree... I think it's ridiculous how young some girls are when they get pregnant. When you aren't financially stable (and at such a young age you might not be emotionally stable either) it's not a good idea at all to have a baby. You're just setting yourself up and your baby up for a really hard life. I don't think girls always think things through, they don't realize how much work and money it really takes to raise a baby. They just see it as something fun. I know this girl who is dating a guy who said he was going to move to Florida and she didn't want him to move so she stopped taking her birth control (without telling her boyfriend) and got pregnant JUST so he wouldn't move. Can you say...selfish and insecure...? I really wish more girls would keep their head on straight when it comes to this subject.
Did you know that the babies born to young teens' are "less likely to graduate from highschool and, as adults, more likely to be unemployed and three times more likely to be incarcerated?" I learned that from my "Contemporary Women's Heath" book. I do not think young girls have the money or the time to devote to a child. It is hard to have a child when you are still a child yourself. Can you image going to school and working while raising a child? Can you imagine how hard it would be if you still lived with your own parents with a baby?
